TAGA Harmony F-200 Diamonds are a Boy’s Best Friend …

After a tremendous success of the Platinum Special Edition series, TAGA Harmony has received a lot of requests from its customers for designing loudspeakers with even more Hi-end Looks and Hi-end Sound. TAGA Harmony decided to take on that difficult but at the same time tempting task. A team of dedicated engineers was appointed for this project which got a code name “Diamond”.

{{ … Now, why is Ziggy writing about this?  Because Ziggy had the possibility to listen to these Diamonds during the Warsaw Audio Video Show.  With my own ears, actually.  Indeed, so far as Diamonds are a Girls best friend, these F-200, top notch flagship model of the Diamond series could easily become a Boy’s best friend.   Especially, if the boy happens to be an audiophile. 

Mind you, these Diamonds, although the highest quality and flagship product within the TAGA Harmony product portfolio still remains, considering, at Down-to-Earth prices…. }}

The goal of them engineers was to use all the knowledge and experience in research, development and manufacturing of speakers to build an exceptional floor-standing speaker, showcasing the best technology and achievements of TAGA Harmony. The result is visible at the first glance on the beautifully crafted cabinet with its curved, clear, elegant lines and luxurious design accentuated with high grade natural wood veneers finished with high-end clear gloss piano lacquer.

When you turn on the speakers you are immediately stunned by the exceptional Diamond F-200 sound: super natural, super dynamic, super clear and engaging… just super!

But hey?   Where are the photographs?  Fret not. They will come.  But somehow, I have this twisted idea of presenting them from … within.   For starters, have a look at the sheer overkill as evidenced in the construction of the Tweeter unit:

The high-end 30mm (1.18”) O-TPTTD (Oversized Taga Pure Titanium Tweeter Dome) is 20% bigger than in the Platinum Special Edition series, so as to allow for an even higher power handling capability and a more accurate, clear, smooth and detailed performance. The Teeter features: Ferro-fluid cooling, a heavy duty 28mm CCAW and silver wiring voice coil, as well as 2 magnets (Φ80 & Φ70) that help the tweeter deliver, bear high power. Intriguingly, with minimal distortion. It has an exceptional precision and works with ultra-extended high-frequency response, up to 33 kHz (+/- 3dB).

The E-TPAF (Enlarged Taga Pure Aluminum Faceplate) and metal grill further assists at the dispersion of high frequencies, driving the already minimal distortion levels to an even lower level.

Midrange 2 b


The 165mm (6.5”) midrange unit is rigid and ultra-light E-TPACD (Extended Taga Pure Aluminum cone Driver) based device. It features a bullet shaped phase plug, an aluminum chassis, an oversized 2-magnet structure of varying diameters (Φ100/Φ90). To top it off, there is also a butyl rubber upper suspension that can move very fast. This allows the mid-range frequencies to be very rich, spacious and sweet, but at the same time, not loosing any of the time coherency that is necessary for acute and high precision imaging. The still, bullet shaped phase plug is helps to align the phase of the audio signal and to smooth out the midrange frequency response. The extended low and high frequency range (from 46 Hz – 18 kHz) helps to provide a gracious and non-agressive overlapping with the “neighboring” frequencies of the woofers and the tweeter, so as to provide a gracious and even overall spectral response, so as to offer Hiend performance with the best possible sound consistency and integration.

The two 203mm (8”) woofers, as executed in TNPPCD – “Taga Non-pressed Paper Cone Driver” technology, are each equipped with three oversized magnets:
2x Φ123 + 1x Φ100.

These enclosed/harnessed within an aluminum chassis. These magnets and chassis are extremely rigid and utilize vibration-free solutions. The heavy duty 4-layer pure copper ribbon voice coil allows high power handling. The TAGA Harmony TNPPCD drivers offer a deep, precise and detailed bass performance. Thanks to a larger surface area, these pistons are really capable of pushing air. Therefore, the sound can be played at much louder levels. The TNPPCD based diaphragm is one of exceptional stiffness, with optimal resonance damping, hence allowing to deliver higher power levels with less unwanted coloration.


Take note of the funny construction of the bass-reflex port. It is executed in the so called BOM ( Bass- reflex Omni-directional Module ) technology – a low-turbulence, high-velocity output port, that utilizes concave diffusers for increased dispersion of low frequencies. The port is rubber coated for more luxurious look and to provide even better effect on sound performance.

And now …. LOOK at them AIR based inductors in the Cross-over !!!  No short-cuts or cutting curbs here, as all of the critical circuit sections use inductors that do NOT have ferrous or iron cores:

Indeed, both the cross-over, as well as the internal wiring are executed according to quality standards that prove that these guys simply love music and love good sound. The crossover components are of high quality, picked at close-tolerances and precisely. Even the internal wiring is not of the feeble type, but rather selected so as to achieve optimum, if not absolute, sound neutrality, long-term high power and reliability. TAGA Harmony utilizes the high quality of OFC internal wiring, whilst interconnecting the crossovers with the driver units, and hence assuring that the incoming audio signals, as sourced from a receiver or amplifier, will not lose any of the important details on their paths to drivers.

Cabinet 1

The speaker cabinet design and construction is one of the most critical elements influencing sound performance. Based on their TLIE – Taga Low Interference Enclosures technology, TAGA Harmony have developed a new high-end solution to even more increase stiffness and limit any unwanted resonances of the cabinet. The new technology is called S-TLIE Super Taga Low Interference Enclosures. Super rigid and thick 25mm MDF boards were used for side, rear, top and bottom walls and 30mm for the baffle (front panel). The internal structure was divided in two chambers in an approximate ratio 80% of volume for woofers and 20% for a midrange and tweeter. It allows much better and independent tuning of the low and mid-high sections.

Internal bracing is used to further strengthen the whole structure and achieve even greater rigidity. The walls are firmly anchored to the 80mm backbone beam highly strengthening the whole construction. The bent shape of the side walls as well as the curved top plays a significant role in lowering unwanted vibrations, diffraction, turbulences and standing waves effect.

The high-end African wood veneers painted with 9-layer clear piano lacquer is extremely luxurious and enduring. The cabinet sits on a 2-layer discrete metal base with over-sized spikes. The 2-layer design increases isolation from the floor, the transparency of sound and provides better definition and the basis for the bass.

The whole cabinet is tilted back slightly to time-align all the drivers – it brings the tweeter’s output into the best and correct alignment. Supplied extra aluminum spike supports provide super stability for the speakers and protect the floor from being scratched.

To keep elegant and sleek appearance of the front panel there are no grill sockets thanks to a magnetic mountable grill.

The diagram as above – shows yet another interesting detail, and specifically the base floor-stand support frame, together with the “outboard” spikes. Obviously, you can adjust the spikes so as to achieve absolute stability of the speaker at the chosen location.

Last but not least – come the cable terminals, or speaker binding posts. These are high quality, gold-plated banana binding posts, capable of accepting raw speaker cables of up to 10 AWG, as well as all of the most popular types of connectors. TAGA offers offer bi-wiring and bi-amping in standard, for a wider dispersion and spaciousness, a higher sonic accuracy and a more precise sound. TAGA uses high-end 4N pure oxygen free copper wire jumpers, which are terminated with gold- plated banana and spades connectors.


Considering the Hiend performance, albeit available at still very Down-to-Earth prices, it need be mentioned that TAGA Harmony DIAMOND are a real killer offering at their respective price range, offering (amongst others):
